wants to stand the Truman Show.  

We're all trying to figure out how to get off of it.

And what we have is crowding out the type of journalism that we need. It's very confusing. 

You have Trump saying, 'The press is the enemy.' In some ways, he's right and also terribly wrong. 

I have no idea why people who built Google and Facebook are having us in the low-level discussion. 

Do they not know any people who can elevate these discussions? 

In my lifetime the core commercial strategy of the news media has changed.

The news media has shifted from trying to serve one big audience

to targeting and trying to dominate specific market segments.

The product they are now selling is division.

Most people will have had the experience recently that you can't even have an argument with someone

because you find you are even debating the set of commonly accepted facts.

This has a lot to do with the changes in the structure of the business of the news media.
